International conference “The Poetic Universe of “Sonnets” of Shakespeare: Reception, Scholarly Interpretations, Translations”

Shevchenko of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv) invite you to participate in the International conference “The Poetic Universe of “Sonnets” of Shakespeare: Reception, Scholarly Interpretations, Translations”.

Agenda:

Plenar session: Shakespearean code in the world literature.

Seminar 1. Shakespeare’s sonnets through the prism of literary criticism.

Seminar 2. Shakespeare’s sonnets as an object of linguistic investigations.

Seminar 3. Shakespeare’s sonnets in the Eastern-Slavonic cultural space.

Seminar 4. The philosophy of Shakespeare’s sonnets.

Round-table discussion: Shakespeare studies in modern Ukraine: tendencies, problems and perspectives of development.

Languages: Ukrainian, English, Russian

In order to take part in the conference it is necessary to post a filled-in application form (only the title of the paper is needed). Deadline for application form is March 01, 2009.

We also announce call for papers for the journal “Renesansni studii” (“Renaissance studies”) ISBN 966- 599 – 120 – 5, which is mainly focused on actual problems of Renaissance literature studies. You may pass your paper to editorial board during the conference or send by e-mail (renaissance@zhu.edu.ua).

Accommodation: we can provide accommodation in a hotel on the picturesque bank of the Dnieper river. Single and twin rooms are available. The approximate accommodation fee for a single room including breakfast is 160 hrv (= 20 Euros); for a twin room including breakfast – 150 hrv (= 18 Euros).
