Abstract ♦ This article deals with the problem of professional development of young representatives of literature and art in contemporary Russia. The author describes the existing system of artistic education in the sphere of culture and art, which involves three levels of professional training: elementary, intermediate, and higher. The creative schools, which have been developed down the centuries, were preserved in the country. Belonging to a creative school is a quality sign that provides a definite prospect for young workers of culture and people of art. The system of professional development in the arts together with creative schools, which give basic training for creative professionals, implies a regular selection of the best and brightest representatives of talented youth. Competition in the sphere of arts sets high creative standards. It is an important impetus, motivation in the pursuit of perfection. The Russian classical ballet has become the national heritage, its hallmark in the sphere of high art in the whole world. The formation of a creative image and the establishment of professional reputation require intensive efforts. The most important condition for the global leadership of Russia in the art of ballet is to maintain the existing traditions during the process of training of ballet performers, vocalists as well as scriptwriters, scene designers and other professionals in this field. The experience of Moscow related to the professional development of creative youth is discussed here. A number of experimental youth theater schools were opened in the Russian capital in order to develop the professional skills of young directors, actors, scriptwriters and critics. Various forms of influence on the creative growth of young writers, artists, musicians, actors, directors and other representatives of culture are widely used in the country. Professional competitions, master classes, festivals, art schools and experimental performance venues are used in this sphere. Among them there are the International Tchaikovsky Competition, All-Russia Competition of Young Performers “Russian Ballet”, the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians, Young Writers Contest “The Debut”, and others. They contribute to the selection of the most capable and talented young representatives of various branches of art and set them up in creative life.
