Abstract ◊ The article presents a retrospective analysis of the most outstanding and well-known liberal protest and revolutionary movements in Russia from the Pugachev’s Rebellion to the latest protests of the Russian opposition. The political and economic “content” of the protests (the political and economic claims) and the “spiritual content” (the ideology of the protests that includes the demands of moral and ethical nature) were chosen as the major criteria for the analysis..
