Haltrin-Khalturina E. V. John Keats and the Cult of Beauty: On the Portraiture Dynamics in “Hyperion: A Fragment”
(The Gorky Institute of World Literature of the RAS)
Abstract ♦ The Hyperion: A Fragment (1819 / 1820) is seen here as the uttermost expression of Keats’s ideas of the “beautiful”. This is the first attempt in the Russian-language Romantic studies to articulate the meaning of Keats’s Hyperion in terms of aesthetics.
Keywords: English Romanticism, John Keats, the aesthetic category of beautiful, image-building in poetry.
